Wine Enthusiast 91pt

This is a Muscadet you can pair with everyday dishes, not just seafood. The wine opens with supple aromas of yellow apple, pastry dough, and slivered almonds that gain steam on the nose along with dried white blossom. The delicate palate is supple with layers of orchard fruit that unfold into wet stone and lemon zest.

Estate

Rebuilt in the 20th century in schist from the Nantes area, the Château de la Chesnaie has all the features of typical Renaissance style architecture, which was also used for numerous buildings such as the Dobrée Museum in Nantes. The castle and farm were separated and the Chéreau-Carré family bought the farm in the 1960s.

Terroir

Located on the outskirts of the city of Nantes, despite urban pressures. Due to the local exceptional qualities it is protected by the INAO.
The soil consists of clay mixed with mica for a very good soil warming. The geological situation is changing to a sandy structure due to erosion. The terroir is early, so that the harvest is done in the first days after the harvest ban in Muscadet.

Vinification

A pneumatic press can preserve the quality of the juice. Winemaking is exclusively binding. The technique of "stirring" gives the wine more fruit and complexity. It is bottled at the chateau during Spring.
